Re: Will the old school DMC GCX play well with current VL GCX?

I run 3 GCX’s. 2 VL and 1 DMC. They are identical in my experience. As long as the older DMC is in good shape, you should have no problems.

Good Luck!

Re: GCP 1-4 preset button second function

Hi!
I run 2 GCP´s (Master/Slave) with ver. 1.13. They both have that function.
To turn it off go: SETUP - UTILITY - GBL PGM and set GBL PGM to off.

If you want to use it, you can program that preset as any other. Handy if you want a preset that is available whatever preset page you are on.

Re: Problem configuring GCP with Beta Chip 2.0

Just a short update on this thread!

I got my 2. GCP back from the tech... I now power both my GCP´s from GCX 1. Works like a charm. The GCX is powered from a Pedal Power AC`s 1200mA output so plenty of juice.

I programmed the GCP´s as Master and Slave and everything works as it is supposed to.

Yesterday I thought I´d give it one more go... and broke a leg of one of the chips. Luckily it was one of the Betas so I'm up and running again with the Master/Slave setup. I´ve had the chips in and out so many times now I'm afraid of breaking one of the original ones. I won't do any more swapping and settle with what I have so far.

Thx to Marlboro05 for trying to help out!

I've seen all your contributions on this forum and appreciate it.
Keep up the good work!

Re: GCP & HX Effects | Power Supply

Hi there!
I have an HX/FX in my rack and controlled by a GCP.

You will not be able to jump between snapshots. You can switch presets and the snapshot you had up when saving that preset will be activated.

Re: Problem configuring GCP with Beta Chip 2.0

Thx for responding MarlboroMan!

I have one of the GCP’s at the local tech at the moment. He is doing the MIDI mod to enable power to be shared between MIDI in and out so I can get rid of the xtra powersupply...

I might give it a second shot when I get it back...

Re: Problem configuring GCP with Beta Chip 2.0

Thx Marlboro05!

I tried what you suggested, but no difference :(

Installed both GCP´s with Beta 2 chip... Nope!

Switched the first GCP to second position and reprogrammed it to IA mode and vice versa... Nope!
One difference though... The IA GCP would stay in IA mode after rebooting but all settings lost. Earlier it would always boot up in 10 preset mode but with all configurations lost.

Put back the 1.14 chip to the newest GCP and kept the Beta chip in the old one... Nope!

After rebooting, on the IA GCP I can configure IA buttons and they work when I push them manually. It will not change presets/sync as I change presets on GCP1 in preset mode. To get them to sync, I have to initialize the memory on GCP2 every time after a reboot before programming IA buttons. When I do that and the GCP 2 changes presets simultaneous, some presets don't match between the two units. I have GCP1 set in 10 presets mode and button 1 - 4 sync perfectly, but when I press preset 5 on GCP 1 it will bring up preset 000 on GCP2, preset 6 will bring up 3 on GCP2, preset 7 will bring up preset 127 on GCP 2 etc...

I must have a bout 30 hours all together now trying to get this to work... so I'm about to give this up. I can always run them as master and slave with a total of 16 IA buttons... I have not tried this but I'm sure it will work.

After all its a Beta Chip and for some reason it won't work in my system.

It was worth the effort. I know the menus in and out now on the GCP...

Problem configuring GCP with Beta Chip 2.0

Hello all!!

I have problems configuring a second GCP with the Beta Chip 2.0 installed.

Actually, I’m now trying to get things to work after receiving chip number 2 from Voodoo Lab. When I couldn’t configure the first one, I presumed it was a malfunctioning chip I had gotten and after communicating with the great people at Voodoo Lab they sent me another one. Unfortunately things remain the same so I guess I am doing something wrong.

My problem is I can’t get the second GCP (the one with the Beta Chip) set to IA mode) to save settings.

Every time I turn off the unit, it erases all settings and I have to set up everything again. MIDI settings and all IA buttons.

I even have to reinitialize memory every time (the one in IA mode) to get the two GCP´s to communicate.

After reinitializing and setting everything up it works great but only until I turn it off and on again.

The first GCP is running v 1.14 and the second is running Beta 2.0. According to posts on here this should not be a problem.

Anybody?

Re: GCP with GCX, AxeFx and Ernie Ball volume pedals

All EB volume pedals I tried are passive.

I ended up buying a Mission Enginering EP25K and it works very well. The Mission Engineering EP-1-BK SPL I mentioned in my previous post is spring loaded and go back to heel position whenever you take your foot off. Not very smart if you want to control volume or set delay time etc. with it.

Anyhow... Getting a pedal with linear pot solved the problem. I did not research much as I know Mission E. pedals from another rig of mine and went for the brand I know and is satisfied with.

Without being certain, I guess any expression pedal with linear pot and TRS cable would do the trick.

Re: GCP with GCX, AxeFx and Ernie Ball volume pedals

I’m not John... :!:

Just want to share my findings after having the same issue.

The EB Volume pedals have a logarithmic response curve. They push CC# at a higher rate the closer you get to the toe position.

I have tried 3 different EB Volume pedals to control my G Major 2 via the GCP and they all act the same.

As I understand it from reading up on the topic, we need a pedal that use a linear pot to get an even response from heel to toe.

Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong because I’m about to order an Mission Engineering EP-1-BK SPL.
