Which POWER product? (help an elec retard)
Hey guys. I've read as much as I can and checked the database of pedals but I'm really not understanding what I'm doing. I would appreciate some knowledgeable insider's help in powering my pedal board.
GCP
Digitech Whammy (v4 I think...the MIDI In one)
TC Polytune Mini
Sony DWZ-B30GB wireless base
These are the four things I need to power in the pedal board.
Which Pedal Power product and cables would I require?
Added info:
I read about the requirements of the Sony unit.
Quote:
"In 9V operation, this unit needs 120 mA. Most power supplies have a max current of around 100 mA per jack,so make sure you are powering it off a high current jack like on the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2+ (no affiliation, it's just the one I use and it has two jacks that have a higher current output of 250 mA)."
just in case that helps for the Sony.
I don't want to overbuy or buy the wrong product. I've gone completely rack based (I play The Edge in a tribute show) so the racks work well but I still need a few things at my feet because I don't have a Dallas and I'm trying to keep it as small as possible with one power unit for quick setup in my board.
Thanks in advance for any help / advice you can provide a newbie in electrical systems.
The board will be 36" wide and between 20-24" in depth. The order will probably be:
WHAMMY --- POLYTUNE --- Sony Wireless --- GCP (24") -- MISSION Pedal.
If the pedal board had room I might stick my VOX Wah in as well but I want to ensure I get the right pedal power for these units in one go.
OH....other note. I bought the Rocktron 7pin to 5pin MIDI cable
to power the GCP from the rack and I've tried two cables so far with no luck. The power plug connects to the Rocktron and power goes down the cable but as soon as I stick the plug all the way in the Rocktron sleeve the power cuts out. It's not the cable as I've tried 2 cables now and there must be an issue with my wall wart. Thought I'd throw that in. I've tried so much to make this easy and it has not been.
Thanks everyone!

Re: Powering from a Rocktron cable
Hi John....very helpful thanks. That is indeed my problem. I took pliers to each barrel and the original cable seems to squeeze it better but neither really 'holds' the connection. I'll try your zip line idea. Awesome.

Powering from a Rocktron cable
I purchased the Rocktron 5-pin + power to 7-pin MIDI cable but the connector to the GCP power cord was shakey. I assumed a got a faulty cable and Sweetwater sent a replacement. This one connects even worse.
Did I make a mistake in thinking the supplied power cord connects to this cable? Is there a different power cord I was supposed to get for the GCP? Should I contact voodoo directly?
Advice helped.

Reordering presets
Hi guys, love the GCP and love the support here on the forum. I'm wondering very simply....how is everyone reordering presets in the GCP? I perform in a few different shows and am looking for a way to drag and drop the orders of some patches. I tried a system dump and then text editing the file but the characters got messed up and that didn't work.
Any solutions anywhere to this issue?

I think it's a completely valid Feature Request.

reijo | storm's original band
Hello all. I'm a new member as I just purchased the GCP through Sweetwater and thought I'd better poke around and introduce myself as well.
I am lead guitarist and co-songwriter and co-vocalist for the band 'reijo' [ www.reijomusic.com ] and we have a wide range of styles and sounds. I also play The Edge in a U2 tribute show so that should give you some of the idea of the range of sounds I need to produce live.
Anyway, the point is I am a new proud owner of a GCP which will control an 11R, a Pod HD Pro, and our show control computer (mostly probably just switching our sequences in our theatre software or else Reason...). It was a lot pedal dancing and triggering and so far so good now with the GCP.
Our latest song is called 'Shadows' and the GCP will help provide the switching on stage. I'm going to test if [ soundcloud ] links work in this forum or if it's just a url link.
[soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/reijo/shadows[/soundcloud]
Hope you like the track. We've got our album for sale online and more tracks released on soundcloud.
Thanks Voodoo Labs for a wonderful product. No if only I can get the etxt editors to edit my GCP dumps cleanly I could change presets quickly....that's the next step instead of editing names in the pedal.
cheers,
storm | guitarist | reijo

Re: Ground Control Pro +Eleven rack sweetwater patch memory
New Member here. GCP controlling 11R and Pod HD Pro as well as sending signals to our show control computer.
Thanks for the dump. I also saved my own before I started playing around too much.
My question though is, how do you actually edit the content of these files? I tried in a text editor to replace the sweetwater patch names on (no data) and somehow I get all the characters screwed up.
Is there software I can use that will read this data? I'd really like to type all the patch names on the computer and send the data back.
