Re: Group Control Pro - Beta V2 BETA 25F ??

As far as I know, 2.0 beta adds a IA Mode with 24 Instant Access Buttons available in two Banks.
The rest should be unchanged and stable.

I´d love to habe a 2.0 beta Firmware Chip for my 2nd GCP.
We could swap Devices (mines have 1.13) ... ;-)

That combination would work.
A more elegant solution would be a Ground Control Pro an a GCX.

mikef09 wrote: My big question is how will I be able to change banks on the Strymons via instant access buttons?
You can use IAs to duplicate the Footswitches of the Strymons. This lets you change Presets and Banks spontaneously, but you need three IAs per Device (in your case thats 6 of 8 IAs!).

I have my GCP set up like this:
IA 1: Amp Channel switching
IA 2: Amp EQ on/off
IA 3: Amp Reverb on/off
IA 4: Amp Solo Boost
IA 5: Strymon Mobius Bypass/Engage
IA 6: Strymon Mobius Tap
IA 7: Strymon Timeline Bypass/Engage
IA 8: Strymon Timeline Tap
Strymon Presets are programmed within the GCP Presets.
Every Preset on the GCP represents a Combination of Mobius/Timeline-Presets.
This means, you can´t change Presets spontaneously, but you can switch a pre-programmed Preset on or off and control the Amp.
Since i habe only about 20 combinations of Effects i really like, i can switch between them relativly fast and control every function i need in a live situation.

Is this a kind of feature request?
If so, what about:
  • 12 IA Mode with Bank up and Bank down switching Presets
  • More than one CC per IA
  • Expression Pedal Signal to more than one Destination at a time
  • Display NOT showing Preset Number to free up Display Space for Names
  • A special IA-Button-Mode for Tap Tempo (sending midi Clock or CCs to more than one Destination) with its LED flashing in Sync

Re: Mesa boogie mark v 25 and Voodoo lab control switcher

I use the Control Switcher with my Mesa Boogie Express+ - works very good.
Very nice: I can power my GCP via Midi.

Re: Ground Control Pro Midi In Question

This should be possible.
Is the 3XL set up to the same Midi Channel as the Timeline?

In my Rig, I have a self built Midi Controller to control the Timeline Looper.
My Midi Chain is:
DIY Controller -> GCP -> Voodoo Lab Control Switcher -> Strymon Mobius -> Strymon Timeline.
GCP is switching Presets on Timeline and Mobius and IAs for the Control Switcher.
My Controller controls the Looper of the Timeline.

No problem at all...

Control Switcher powering GCP using a DC Power Source?

I have one Question regarding Voodoo Labs Control Switcher and Ground Control Pro.
The manual of the Control Switcher tells me, that i can power this device with AC or DC Power.
Do i need to use AC Power, if i want to phantom power my GCP or can i use a DC Power Source, which powers my Contol Switcher AND my GCP?

My GCP came with this foil attached to it.
I removed it.

Hi.

Maybe you should send an Email to Voodoo Lab - this may give you a faster response.

Re: Looking for preset layout suggestions

Since you have more on/off Functions than Switches on the GCP, you need to work with Presets.

Leaving the Eclipse and those Booster and OD out, you have 2^12 Variations, which is 4096 ways of combining these Functions.
The good news: Many of them do not make sense.

The question is: How much of these Functions do you need to change on the Fly?
I´d try to program Presets for every Sound used in a certain Song and put these on the bottom Row of the Switches.
Arrange these in a logical way - Intro, Verse, Bridge, Solo etc.
Next is to answer the Question, which Functions need to be changeable on the Fly:
Do you always use Channel 2 with EQ for your Intro-Sound?

I´d take a piece of paper and write down, which Functions should be changeable without reprogramming the Preset.
Do this for every Sound you have.

Those Functions with the most demand for being changed, should get a IA-Switch.
Everything else is recalled with Presets.
