t.c electronic Mimiq an Gcx audio switcher question

Post by NoogaGeetar » Sun Dec 31, 2017 7:01 am

1st post with the forum, sure to not be my last, but 1st thing 1st. I just got a gcp, gcx, and control switcher for my touring rig. I think I have a handle for the most part as to how to hook it up the way I want, with the exception of my tc electronic mimiq. The way the mimiq works in my rig is like so; guitar in-vol-tuner-wah-drive/boost-mimiq doubler out to amp A and amp B. The mimiq is different here because bypassed, it still acts like a splitter allowing signal to still go to and sound come from both amps. Engaged, it adds the doubling effect to the sound to both amps. My question is simply, how do I hook this pedal up to the gcx and control it with the gcp? I'm thinking someone is going to come back and say it can't be done.....i just want verification.

I think the best bet would be to treat it as a stereo effect and use two GCX Loops to control it.

Here would be the connections to use...

1. Use a Y-cable (all three ends Mono) from the Out of the last GCX Loop with standard effects to feed the In of two unused GCX Loops (I'll call these two loops Loop A and Loop B since I don't know what loop numbers you are actually using).
2. Connect the Sends of Loops A and B to the Inputs of the Mimiq.
3. Connect the Outputs of the Mimiq to the Returns of Loops A and B.
4. Connect the Out of Loop A to the Instrument Input of Amp A.
5. Connect the Out of Loop B to the Instrument Input of Amp B.

I hope that helps!

John, thanks for the reply, still, if i did it the way you suggested, the mimiq effect would have to be either always wet (on) or always dry (off) correct or am I missing something here?

Normally the pedal in the loops will be left on at all times.

If your concern is driving both amps when the rloops are bypassing the Mimiq, the Y cable to the Loop Inputs takes care of that so that when both loops are bypassed both amps are still driven. Sorry I didn't specifically call that out before

I hope that helps!
