Korg Delay and EHX 22500 Looper on Plus 2 Power Box.

Post by Bluespower » Fri Jan 27, 2017 8:29 am

Hi Forum.
New member here. In UK.
Just purchased the Pedal Power 2 Plus power box and it looks an awesome bit of kit.

I'm not sure how to connect two of the pedals I have and would welcome any advice please.

1. Korg SDD 3000 delay pedal.
On the unit it says it's DC 9v Centre negative.
I plugged into one of the four first outlets on the Plus 2 but the pedal would not activate.
The pedal works fine plugged straight into the mains.
It's a new pedal.
I guess it requires one of the other outlets on the Plus two ?
Could anyone offer any advice please ?

2. Electro-harmonix 22500 Looper.
This also says it's a 9V centre negative pedal.
On plugging into the Plus two in one of the first four outlets, the pedal does illuminate, but the power seems to be delivered in pulses of about 1 second each, where the pedal lights up for one second and then pulses on/off.
Again, I suspect it requires one of the other outlets.

I don't want to randomly try the other outlets/DIP Switch positions as I'm not knowledgeable enough about electronics and the damage that may be possible.

Thanks in advance.

Both of these pedals draw much more current that the outputs you used are capable of providing. In fact you would need a Current Doubler Adapter (the one with the Green end) connected to both Outputs 5 and 6 on a Pedal Power 2+ with the corresponding DIP switches set to Normal for either one of these pedals.

You can power the other one using its included power adapter connected to the Courtesy Outlet on the back of the Pedal Power 2+.

I hope that helps!

Hi John

Checked into more detail re the pedals from the manufacturers web sites.

The Electro-harmonix looper requires 240mA
Presumably, this means that I will be able to power it from outlet 5 or 6 with DIP switch set to normal as they supply a maximum of 250mA per outlet.

The Korg Delay pedal requires 600mA.
Presumably I will need an adaptor to fit into the aux power outlet of the Plus 2 so I can plug in the cable supplied with the Korg unit.

How many Amps is supplied by the auxiliary AC output socket ?
I know it will be much more than any pedal milliamp requirements - just trying to increase my knowledge !

Many thanks again !!

Right on!

I hadn't found a reliable measurement of the 22500 so I had to go with what the included power supply said ;)

Good Luck!
