Hex switcher with momentary midi switch?

Post by claxor » Fri Sep 16, 2016 9:40 pm

I'm thinking of getting a VL Hex switcher, and I have an effect that I only want to activate briefly in my playing using a midi pedal board. (Fractal MFC 101) I can set a switch on the MFC to be momentary instead of latching, but will the Hex work in this manner?

Just want to hold a pedal for a moment and let go to get rid of the effect.

I believe this can be done, but it is all in how the MFC sends the MIDI Data when a button is set to Momentary.

On the HEX a Loop is activated when it gets a Control Change Data Value of 127, and deactivated when it gets a Data Value of 0.
So for a Momentary button on a MIDI Controller to work it will have to be programmed to send Control Change Data Value 127 then pressed down, and Data Value 0 when released... this would be all on the Control Change number that is appropriate for the Loop you want to control.

I hope that helps!
