I would like to get an expression pedal to cover wah / vol requirements initially - i will be using this with an axefx2 and my newly aquired gcp ( v1.01 frimware at present) ..
Do i buy a standard vol pedal ie Ernie Ball VP Jr ( 250K ) - which ic an use with my analog rig or do i have to go for something with a 25k pot in it ?

I had been using a EB VPJr, but I didn't think the feel was right for some effects. I've used the Mission pedals, they're great. My new favorite is the Dunlop DVP1, it's got a great feel too it.
