What am I missing as far as setting up a GCP loop for tap tempo control for a pedal? I've tried it with a Boss DD5, DLS Echo Tap (hard wired into the board), a T.C. M300 rack unit, all with no success. I set up the button as 'momentary' and even tried one idea I saw here about setting it up fpr ch 016/ 085 and still nothing.

Focusing on the DD5 for now, is there some secret to making it work? I'm even willing to use the external tap button as illustrated in another thread...if it hooks to one of the pedal outs on the GCP.

Any help is much appreciated! :)

Well, this should be a pretty straight-forward operation. Not to belabor the obvious, but you should have one loop (let's say Loop 5) configured like this to turn the DD-5 On and Off...

Guitar Signal -> Loop 5 In; Loop 5 Send -> DD-5 In; DD-5 Out -> Loop 5 Return; Loop 5 Out -> Loop 6 In

...and a second loop, say Loop 8, to control the Tap Tempo, configured like this:

Loop 8 Send (Normally Closed) -> DD-5 Tap Tempo In
or
Loop 8 Out (Normally Open) -> DD-5 Tap Tempo In

Naturally, the Instant Access button controlling Loop 8 will be set to Momentary, as described on Page 12 of the Ground Control Pro manual.

The jack you use in Loop 8 depends on what your pedal requires, a Normally Open or Normally Closed momentary state. I don't know which jack you're using now, but try feeding your Tap Tempo jack from the other one to see if it makes any difference.

I don't know if this will help at all, but if you've already made the connections as described, I don't see why this wouldn't be working for you. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Do you also have a GCX switcher or do you have only the Ground Control Pro?

I'm also have the same sort of problem.
I have a Boss DD-7 and i can't figure it out how to use my only free loop to use as tap tempo. Do i need a TRS cable or just a TS one?
Also, can i achieve the same using one of the GCP external outs stright to the DD-7?

Thanks in advance

The Boss DD-7 doesn't need a a TRS cable to control Tap Tempo if you're running from a GCX Loop. It does, however, require one if you're using one of the GCPro Expression pedal jacks, and the Tamp Tempo switch you connect there will need to have a stereo cable and SPDT switch as described in the sticky up top describing how to build such a switch.

The Expression Pedal ports on a Ground Control Pro are only for connecting an Expression Pedal or switch into the Ground Control Pro in order to control parameters on and outboard MIDI device.

The DD-5 and the DD-7 require a momentary action switch to control the Tempo. Unfortunately, the GCX momentary mode is not going to work for this, but one of the switches on a Control Switcher will work to control the Tempo of a DD-7 from the Ground Control Pro.

I hope that helps!
