Hi Guys,
I've got the following setup:
Guitar going to Line6 PodXT Pro input FX out going to GCX Loop 1 input Loop 1: Ampeg Scrambler Loop 2: Digitech Synth Wah Loop 3: Boss CS3 Loop 4: Boss FA-1 Loop 5: Whammy/Wah/Fuzztone Clone Loop 6: EHX Pog Loop 7: Korg Sdd 3000 Loop 8: Korg A3
Loop 8 Out then goes to Pod XT Pro FX return (allows me to stack delays using the built in delays in the pod post FX loop) and then Pod out to Amp (VOX AC4TV)
I previously had everything (including Pod) running in series into the amp (so not using the pod FX loop) and the Scrambler sounded perfect. Now, it sounds like crap - really thin. The Boss CS-3 now causes a volume drop unless the pedal output is completely maxed.
Any advice? Is this a buffer issue or impedance issue?
Thanks,
Pete

Aside from what the subject title suggests, the GCX Loops themselves are likely not the cause of this. The GCX Loops are completely passive. Try running these effects connected directly to the effects loop of the Pod as a test. My first suggestion would be to simply run the fuzz and compressor in front of the Pod.
I hope that helps!

Thanks John,
So to clarify, I wasn't casting any doubt on the quality of the GCX. It's great. I suppose another (better) way to phrase the question is:
"Do fuzz pedals (Ampeg Scrambler, Death By Audio Supersonic Fuzz Gun in this case) or compressors (Boss CS-3) usually sound different (worse) in loops. Is there something about buffers that they don't like?"
I can run them first in the chain, or I could run into the GCX, out to those two pedals, then into the Pod and through the rest of the GCX loops in the FX loop of the PodXT pro. I just wanted to find out if the poor sound (out of what are brilliant pedals straight to amp) is common when using loopers.
Thanks,
Pete

Hi Pete,
some devices with effects loop attenuate the volume at the send out.
For example, when running effects in the FX loop of the Axe Fx 2 I have to compensate for 6dB in order to have the original volume.
Drive effects react very sensitive to volume differences.
You problem may be of total different origin but this may be a cause.

OK, thanks guys, will have a play with where I put those pedals.
Cheers,
Pete
