I just got a used GCP today, version 1.11, built in '06. I can plug a midi cable into the midi out with no problem, but I can't get a cable into the midi in? Any idea what might be going on?

Are you using a cable with more than 5-Pins?
I can see in your picture some signs of the ol' "push n' twist"... when inserting plug on the MIDI cable into the MIDI jack, be sure that the locator dimple that is on the sleeve of the plug is directly at the bottom of the circle.

Out of curiosity, what device are you trying to connect to the MIDI In of the Ground Control Pro?

I guess the 5-pin jack is just much tighter? I tried this morning and was able to get it in there by just pushing harder than I thought I would have to. I'm using the GCP with an Eleven Rack. I'd be using the Midi In with my PC for programming. Maybe. I was able to get quite a bit setup last night just using the GCP itself, so I might end up just doing everything there. Thanks.

If, as you said, you're using your GCPro with an Eleven Rack, you should check out the Ground Control Pro + Eleven Rack Expansion Pack sticky at the top of the page...
