hi there!
i just got a PX-8 used and i cannot get this thing to work.
i have it plugged into a visual sound 1 spot. it powers up no problem.
when i play only my guitar through it, the volume output is about 1/3 than it is directly plugged into the amp.

im hoping that its something im not doing right. hopefully i didn't get ripped off with a faulty item

thanks !

Here are a couple tests to try to attempt to find where the signal is getting squashed...

#1
Connect your guitar to the PX-8 Input, then connect the PX-8 Insert Send to your amp's instrument input.
Same problem?

#2
Connect your guitar to the PX-8 Insert Return, then connect the PX-8 Out to your amp's instrument input.
Same problem?

That might point to the output buffer having a problem. If you open up the PX-8 (four screws on top, four screws on the bottom) you will see a set of jumpers on a header for enabling/defeating the buffer next to the output jack. Below that, between Switches #6 and #7 is a diagram showing how the jumpers should be installed for "Quiet Switching" or "Bypass". First check that these jumpers are oriented correctly, but feel free to try both settings to test.

Alternatively, if you would rather we take a look at it, feel free to give us a call or write to info@voodoolab.com to make arrangements for an inspection.

The PX-8 has an output buffer as part of the Quiet Switching setup. This is there to help eliminate the pop a true bypass switch can cause. This buffer is completely bypassed when setting the jumpers to the "Bypass" setting for those that don't want anything in the signal path.

It certainly looks that there is a problem with the output buffer in this unit. You can bypass it as you have done and get straight to rocking out or get the unit in here to us to be repaired so you can use the buffer and Quiet Switching settings.
