Can anyone tell me if it is possible to use a GCX to send the signal to a rackmounted DSP (ie a G-Force) and then switch between the effects loops of two different amps?

I want to use a rackmounted DSP, together with a bunch of pedals – along with two amps, ie individually – not at the same time.

The pedals would be going through the front end of the amps, I’ve done this before and appreciate the flexibility of a GCX, Ground Control and a bunch of pedals. This time I want to try to add the DSP into the mix.

Both amps have effects loops, so the idea is to use the rackmount DSP in the loop of the amps and switch between them, ie one song I’d use the G-force w/ chorus and delay on the Fender, and the next I’d switch with delay and reverb to the Friedman.

This can be done by using two GCX Loops as A/B switches. The first one will A/B between the FX Sends and the second one will A/B between the FX Returns. A third loop can be used to bypass the G-Force.

I'll show it using loops 6, 7 and 8, but you can use any loops you would like.

1. Run a Y Cable from the last "front end effect" GCX Loop Out to the Instrument Input of both amps.
2. Connect the FX Send from the Fender to GCX Loop 6 In.
3. Connect the FX Send from the Friedman to GCX Loop 6 Return.
4. Connect GCX Loop 6 Out to GCX Loop 7 In.
5. The G-Force will connect to the Send and Return of GCX Loop 7.
6. Connect GCX Loop 7 Out to GCX Loop 8 In.
7. Connect GCX Loop 8 Send to the Friedman FX Return.
8. Connect GCX Loop 8 Out to the Fender FX Return.

This should make it that whenever Loops 6 and 8 are Off you will hear the Fender. When Loops 6 and 8 are On you will hear the Friedman. Loop 7 will activate or bypass the G-Force.

I hope that helps!
