Post by mykepenney » Mon Jan 04, 2016 11:55 pm

Hello! I'm in dire need of HELP! I need to know if the Control Switcher and the EFX Lite 62M by Musicomlab will work nicely together =)

Yes, I know the 62M has function switches, but not enough! I need 4... So will they work together? Please help!

The Control Switcher will work with any MIDI Foot Controller, so the short answer is yes.
I am not affiliated with Voodoo Lab in any way, but enjoy sharing what little MIDI and signal routing knowledge I have. If you find my assistance helpful, please pay it forward.

Excellent! Thanks for the reply!

What if I wanted to connect a Strymon Mobius, to also send MIDI to, in order to make my presets on the EFX Lite? How would that wire up? EFX > Control Switcher > Mobius? I guess the MIDI signals will just pass through the Control Switcher no? But wouldn't that affect what the Control Switcher needs to do? Do I need to set it on different MIDI channels or something?

The MIDI cable path doesn't necessarily matter so you can wire the two devices in whatever order is most convenient. The Control switcher will simply pass the MIDI data thru to the next device. The Mobius will do the same, but you would have to go into its settings and set the MIDI Out as a MIDI Thru.

In this case I don't think you'll need to worry about setting different MIDI Channels for your two devices. Once you send a preset that recalls the Mobius patch you want, you will press the buttons on the Control Switcher to set the amp how you want it then save the settings. After doing that, both the Mobius and the Control Switcher will respond whenever you recall a preset on your controller.

Good Luck!

Thanks John! Much appreciated =)

So in other words, just to make sure I'm clear on this topic,

When I'm editing a preset on my EFX Lite 62M, all I need to do is:

- Select the preset I want to edit
- Make the changes necessary on my Control Switcher (lets say button 1 is on, the rest are off)
- Make the changes necessary on my Mobius (ex: a tremolo effect)
- Save the preset

Is that correct? Or will it require a little more effort?

Almost.

If you will not be doing any programming on your controller then it would be as follows...

1. Select a Preset on your controller.
2. On the Control Switcher, make any changes you want then press both buttons 1 and 4 at the same time to store the changes.
3. On the Mobius, make any changes needed to the current Preset then save. (You may want to check the Mobius manual for specifics on this ;) )

Good Luck!
