I have successfully configured my volume pedal to work with the GMAJ 2. However, when set to 000 (minimum or off) and sweeping to max volume 127 (maximum on), the pedal does not provide an audible difference until it reaches about 65%. In other words, volume is present between 65%-100%. I would like the volume pedal to respond the whole range. Is this a realistic expectation and is it achievable. I did play with the settings for the range on the GMAJ2 but nothing seemed to increase the sweep range.

I will add that the pedal is cc 007, has been calibrated with the appropriate range response 000-127 and is working properly other than what I mentioned above.

Any help would be appreciated.

When you go into the Edit mode on a Ground Control Pro preset and scroll to the "pedal" screen (P1 or P2) where you assign the Controller number, you should also see the current data value displayed. If you sweep the pedal this should go from 0-127, but what does it show if you set your pedal at about half way?

What is the pedal you are using?

I am using Ernie Ball V Jr.s.

I will take a look at the parameters on the GCP as I sweep the pedals as soon as I get home... MTF...

Thanks!

I have tried a setup exactly how you are trying and never could get it to work. The display on the GCP would always sweep correctly but the effect would never turn on correctly on the G major 2 until the pedal position was past about 60%. It sucked and I never did figure it out and just gave up. If i plugged the pedal directly into the G major 2 it would work fine. There is some kind of problem between the GCP and the Gmajor 2 communication. Sucks badly as i don't want to have to run a separate cord for the expression pedal.

I got it working. I think the two ts ends were backwards on the pedal. Now I have a new problem: when both pedals are plugged into the GCP, they sweep from 000-127. This is fine. The problem is, they are both affecting volume. If either pedal is toe down, the other pedal will control volume. This is also true if I put the other pedal toe down- the 2nd pedal will control volume. Make no sense at all. The pedal 2 is supposed to be volume and is set at 007 and is turned on for the GCP. Pedal 1 is supposed to control effects such as pitch bend and is set at 016.

I think I am just going to remove pedal 1 and put a wah pedal in its place (probably a Tremonti).

I have learned a great deal and have got the rig to do just about everything I want to... Just the pedals are eating my lunch.

Today I discovered how to make the GCP pull in GMAJ2 user presets instead of factory. That to me a while but problem solved. I have the GCX bringing in my stomp boxes on the IAs and I have added a 19" tuner...

Someone please tell me how to get a 2nd expression pedal to behave... Sigh...

Jim

Any ideas John Clark? I have this question on the G MAJ 2 forum as well. I want to make the 2nd expression perform properly. Anyone else ever have this issue?

Any time you have one expression pedal affecting the the other, it is because one, or both, are connected backward. Swap the connections so they match on both pedals and test again until the pedals do not affect each other.

Now for the sweep from 0-127... this is certainly good when looking at the end points. However, the VP Jr. has a Taper Switch behind the jack panel under the Toe end of the Treadle that changes how quickly the pedals slews through the numbers. Have you tried flipping this switch?

I didn't change any of the switches on the VPJr. However, I did reverse pedal 2 from pedal 1-meanting: I have a red TS and a white TS for pedal 1. I reversed the colors for pedal 2 so they are not hooked up the same. Then, my 2nd pedal worked fine. I have gone on to set pedal 2 to control delay for the time being. My interest is to have pedal 2 control intelligent pitch-shifting. I have not seen much good info regarding that process but will continue to pursue.

The idea of having to reverse the connections on the second pedal should be included in the instructions found within the manual... If there are any revisions underway, I nominate this issue as a prime candidate.

I also want to have my volume pedal (1) to be muted at 000. Right now, there is still some volume presence at 000. I may be able to figure that out inside of the manual and will try to do so (hopefully this evening).

Thanks for the help on getting the pedal issue sorted out...

If the pedals you are using are identical, and the Insert Cables are identical, then the connections should be the same between both pedals.

The output level for the volume control depends completely on the device you are ultimately controlling, and where it is in the signal path. If you are controlling volume on the G-Major 2 then it is likely something you have to adjust within the G-Major 2 menu system... or possibly your amplifier doesn't go fully silent when there is a volume control in its effects loop.

When you say you got the pedal to work when you wired it backwards it really doesn't work right. I'm telling you, I have tried EVERYTHING to get a EB volume pedal to work correctly thru the GCP and my G major 2. I have given up. I don't believe that there is any way to get this to work correctly.
