Yes, it can, but without knowing exactly what it is you're trying to accomplish, I can't say whether or not it would be worthwhile. Please explain what you hoping to do.

If you are looking to control the Pedal Switcher using the GT-8, you will need to find out if you can set the GT-8 to send MIDI System Exclusive (SysEx) messages. If so, then you can force the Pedal Switcher to respond to the same Control Change messages as a GCX.

In order to make the Pedal Switcher mimic the GCX controller number response, you must first send it the following MIDI SysEx message at startup...

F0 00 00 07 01 08 10 F7

This will force the Pedal Switcher to respond to MIDI Control Change messages 80-83 on MIDI Channel 16.

I hope that helps!

If I understand correctly, you want to run the Pedal Switcher in the GT 8 External FX Loop and connect four different Overdrive/Distortion pedals to the Pedal Switcher. It's also my understanding you want to control the Pedal Switcher via MIDI signals sent from the GT 8 to activate/deactivate the different OD pedals, which you will assign to corresponding GT 8 presets.

Unfortunately, I can find nothing in the GT-8 manual indicating it can transmit the required MIDI SysEx messages John Clark referred to in his post, so I do not think this is possible. What you need is a looper that respondes directly to MIDI Program Change information, such as Payne Labs K-Switch, RJM's Mini Effect Gizmo, or WOBO's MIDI Looper4 to name a few.
