Would this still work with the event processor if I pointed out that in my testing that going GCP--GCX--Gsharp--Legacy 3,

the legacy did not respond at all..it seems that the legacy has to be first in the chain? let me know before I order please John.

Here is a test...

1. Set up your rig so the Legacy is last in the MIDI path.
2. On the Ground Contorl Pro, disable the G-Sharp in Setup Mode by setting the MIDI channel to "--" in the Device list.
3. See if the Legacy 3 responds when only a single MIDI channel is transmitting.

Let us know what happens.

I noticed you're also over on the Carvin forum, and two members there seem to be using their Legacy 3s in conjunction with a TC G-Major2 and a G-System and aren't experiencing any problems.

Maybe another test would be taking the GCX out of the picture to see if the units work together?

Last night I went GCP-->Legacy--> Gsharp, bypassing the GCX and it did the same issue. I will try what John just said in about an hour and then report back. Thanks guys and I will keep in touch.

It looks to me that the user over at the Carvin forum is assigning all his gear to respond to MIDI channel 1, so he wouldn't necessarily have this problem. That can be done in this case too but then whenever you create new "presets" you will have to program the amp and map the patch on the processor so both devices respond to the same Program Change. Nobody likes MIDI mapping! ;) This is why Ground Control and Ground Control Pro were designed, so you could send each device the Program it wants to see and programming a complex rig could, for the most part, be done from the foot controller.

Ok well I just ran this test above and the Legacy did not respond at all to anything. Maybe it is because the Gsharp has a midi out and not a midi thru? So it seems like the Midi Solutions Event Processor will not work on my setup..

another thing i did was to put both on midi channel 1 on this chain and from the GCP the amp tried to change channels as the gsharp changed patches...and oddly enough, if i manually incremented the preset on the face of the gsharp from lets say 01 to 02 and loaded it, the amp would switch to channel 2 as the gsharp would go to patch 2 and so on so forth..

so it looks like i wont have a solution that cleary should be working.. :(

I ended up gettting this method to work by putting both on MIDI channel 1..it is a small pain like you say but I can work with it; just involves redundant gsharp preset programming. The amp does not like the 2 channel thing as you have stated. I will continue to try to set up the rig the 2 MIDI channel way but I doubt it will ever work.

This certainly is an odd situation, and apparently there is no solid resolution. Seems to me the onus is on Carvin to do a little more R&D with regard to how the L3 responds to different MIDI Controllers and/or with multiple units in the MIDI chain.

i may need to get the pc midi board inside the amp relaced because there is one guy on the carvin forum that has his carvin v3 amp working doing exactly like I have tried to program my legacy 3. They use the same programming methods.
