The best way to see if everything will work without hum is to try it!![]()
You can't hurt anything so, if you have a hum after connecting everything as you want, then use a wire or Breakout Box to connect the RTN and OUT grounds.
If you still have hum then there is another loop somewhere that you will have to trace..![]()

Can't we make use of the two guitar inputs/outputs and then tie each one to in/return respectively? Although that means that only one guitar would have been buffered?
