I use the gcx to switch my pedals and amps controlled by the ground control. Can I connect my hd500 into the ground control input to pull up any hd500 patch there? If so can it be combined with gcx commands at the same time i.e. combining a hd500 patch with stompboxes from the gcx?

Just curious; are you wanting to use your current set up and have the pod as an extra amp per se. I run two Marshall's and have wondered about using my pod as well and Gavin's the midi to use different patches and send the pod's xlr out to the board while my amps are mic'ed.

There are a couple of effects set ups that I like. I don't like their amp modeling straight into the amp cause it picks up the heads preamp which goofs up the sound, and I can't run it through the effects loop like it should. Did I explain that right? I'd like to pick out a few effects only on the HD500 and use my stompboxes in the gcx then send into the front of the amp. It sounds like we're set up a little different, but both equally complicated. It's just tone chasing! The gcx is awesome. I finally have 3 marshall heads working together or individually at my beck and call.

yeah a bit different
and to further your approach;
i have two old jcm800's and boy do the pod's
sound like complete * running into them
and my amps have no fx loops. I was thinking of using mine for layering etc.

good luck on the set-up i'll keep an eye here to see what they throw at ya
sound like what you want is accomplishable

good luck G

For MIDI control of the HD500 you would simply connect the MIDI Out of the GCX to the MIDI In on the HD500, then name the HD500 as a device within the Ground Control Pro. After that you are ready to start creating presets that control everything.

I hope that helps!

The MIDI connections will only handle the control instructions, not any of the audio.

Unless there is more to this setup than previously mentioned your only choice is to run the HD500 in front of your amps. Routing would be the same as any of the stomp box pedals you already have since you only want to use some of the effects in the HD500 and cannot run it in an effects loop.

Do you mean that I should run the hd500 through one of the 8 patches on the back of the gcx?

If you want the GCX to bypass the HD500 when not in use you will want to run it in one of the loops.

I'll admit that I don't really know what your rig is totally since the only info about it is here and in another thread where you were having trouble with running two GCX units together.

Hi John,

I put a pic of my schematic so you can see what I'm attempting to do. It may be impossible but this was my best attempt. The issue is at GCX #4 & 5. I'm running the HD500 into the return so that I don't have to run it through the front of the amp. I don't know if the JCM2000 doesn't like not having a cable in the send of the effects loop, but I can't have my cake and eat it too. Do you see any obvious problems with this? It is the number 2 GCX and is controlled by ground control pro. Thanks in advance,
Brad
