I have a GCX, two amps and effects. I've been trying to achieve a wet/dry setup only using two loops on the GCX.

What I want to get from it is this:

Wet (Amp 1) Dry (Amp2)
Wet (Amp 2) Dry (Amp1)
Wet (Amp1)
Wet (Amp2)

Dry (Amp1) - not 100% necessary
Dry (Amp2) - not 100% necessary

Right now what I have is almost there. trying to describe it best without a picture:

Guitar out (back panel) -> Loops 1-6 -> In on Loop 7

Loop 7 -> Send (A) to Loop 8 In
Loop 7 -> Out (B) to Loop 8 Return

Loop 8 -> Send to Amp2
Loop 8 -> Out to Amp1

Feed thru -> (dry) to Loop 7 Return

Essentially, I can get a wet/dry with Amp1 (wet) and Amp2 (dry) but not the other way around. I can have both amps be 'wet' on their own and only Amp1 being 'dry'.

Is there anyone that can help solve this? I only have 2 gcx's to spare so if I can't then I'll make do with what I have!

Thanks!

Two Y cables will allow you to do what you are looking for.

Connect one Y Cable from the Out of Loop 6 to the In of Loop 7 and Loop 8.
Connect the other Y Cable from the Feedthru to the Return of Loop 7 and Loop 8.
Connect the Out of Loop 7 to one amp.
Connect the Out of Loop 8 tot the other amp.

This will allow you to select the wet or dry signal independently for each amp.

I hope that helps!

p.s. A Y Cable will have all three ends mono.

Hi John,

I was going to suggest that same thing, but the OP wrote his goal was to get:

Wet (Amp 1) Dry (Amp2)
Wet (Amp 2) Dry (Amp1)
Wet (Amp1)
Wet (Amp2)

Dry (Amp1) - not 100% necessary
Dry (Amp2) - not 100% necessary

I interpreted that to mean he wants the option of using either Amp1 or Amp2 independently - at least in wet mode, with dry mode being an option but "not 100% necessary" - which I don't think can be done using the Y-cable connections you described above, can it?

Thanks John and nyteowl.

You are correct nyteowl - I would like to be able to have these options:

Wet (Amp 1) Dry (Amp2)
Wet (Amp 2) Dry (Amp1)
Wet (Amp1)
Wet (Amp2)

The setup you described John will get me only the first two options and not be able to have either amp on independently.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks!

loop 1-6 has Whammy, OD's, Fuzz, Echo's, from Loop 6 out it goes to a looper and then back to be split or something else if you suggest something better for my situation.

Could you please be a little more specific, as in:

Loop 1:
Loop 2:
Loop 3:
etc...

Also, is there any pedal that you have on all the time or could leave on all the time? I believe you need another loop to get what you're after amp-wise, and need more details on how your GCX is configured to see if there's a way to free up a loop without losing anything.
