Hey guys, Im kinda stumped here.. I have had this rig for over 2 years and has always worked smoothly for all our tours. Recently I re cabled the rig (build all the cables, and routed the power separately - cleaned it up ect. Everything works really great except for one problem.

Loop three where the second channel of my pro rack G sits is actually adding volume/gain to my signal... we arent talking a little boost, this is a lot of gain! it sounds like if you had a dbx comp or something similar with a make up gain cranked all the way up.

I just cant figure out what could cause it. Everything is wired identically and it worked just fine before. If it were loosing gain I would not be suprised as it could be a bad cable or something but adding gain.... well I cant find any threads anywhere on the net were someone has had this problem! I should mention that it is not my effects loop as it is the only device in the loop that has this problem!

here is the rig (sorry for * pics) wiring is as follows;

loop
1 - compressor
2 - BB preamp
To amp
(in effects loop)
3 - pro rack G chanel 2
4- G major
5 - mxr delay
6- tuner mute
7 - amp channel 1
8 - amp channel 2

quinncmusic,

Try this (if you have not already done so)...

1) Disconnect the Pro Rack G from loop 3.
2) Insert a (preferably short) cable between the SEND and RETURN of loop 3.
3) Now enable loop 3 as if the Pro Rack G was there (but, of course we only have a cable).

By doing the above, we have taken the Pro Rack G out of the equation. This should help us narrow down if channel 2 of the Pro Rack G is the problem or if the problem lies within the GCX and/or somewhere else.

Anyways... if you do the above, you still get the volume increase?

Report back and we can take it from there.
