I'm new to midi I've played guitar for 20 years. My problem is I have a gcp and a g major 2 I bought and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I did the quick start in the manual for the foot switch and everything works fine but I'm having problems assigning patches to foot switch numbers I want. I have created patches I want but I can't figure out how to get to them with foot switch any help would be great

Make sure the GCP is set to the SAME MIDI CHANNEL as your GMAJOR.

Then go into edit mode (top right button) on the GCP and try the up/down buttons
on the GCP. They should be now changing the rackmount Gmajor as you do this.

If they are not create another NAME and assign a MIDI CHANNEL to it by hitting the down
or left/right buttons on the GCP. I dont have my unit in front of me but VOODOO LABS defaults the Number1 postion in the list as GCX I think.

But you can go ONE BELOW this and create a name and set the MIDI CHANNEL and
it will come to life fast..It was a 60 second call the VOODOO SUPPORT for me 5 years ago..
never had another problem.
Hope this helps...

someone who has the correct terms for all this may help expound on this better, but in a
nutshell thats whats wrong in my opinion.

As armaddy63 said, you must make sure your Ground Control Pro and G-Major 2 are communicating on the same MIDI channel. See Pages 6 & 7 of your Ground Control Pro Owner's Manual to see how to verify this, and if necessary, make the appropriate changes. Once you've done that, specific instructions for entering Edit mode and assigning MIDI Program Changes can be found on Pages 16 & 17 of your Ground Control Pro Owner's Manual.

Conversely, you could also save your G-Major 2 patches starting at User Preset 1 through however many you have and the GCPro Instant Access buttons will default to selecting your patches in numerical order.

Unless there is a MIDI wizard at your local guitar store, you would probably have better luck calling Voodoo Lab or TC Electronics Technical Support. Maybe I'm beating a dead horse, but...

If you have the MIDI Out of the Ground Control Pro connected to the MIDI In of the G-Major 2 and nothing is happening when you depress an Instant Access button, the two devices are not communicating on the same MIDI Channel. How to fix this is explained on Pages 6 and 7 of the GCPro Owner's Manual.

If the User Presets are changing on the G-Major 2 but they are not the Preset numbers you desire, then the two devices are communicating but you need to program the Instant Access buttons on the CGCPro to send the proper Program Change messages to the G-Major 2. How to fix this is explained on Pages 16 and 17 of the GCPro Owner's Manual.

Really the best advice anyone could give you. Who would know more about the GCPro than VooDoo Lab Tech Support..?
