Hey NC,
Sorry I corrected my post above it should have read...
"If you test the cable out with an ohm meter, if the covering is touching the plug's tip solder tab, it will read 1000 Ohms instead of infinite ohms between the tip and shield.
The resistance should be infinite between the tip and Shield if the cable is made up correctly."
Your connectors are fine, and the cable is fine....I still think that the
black covering is touching the tip solder connection on the plug....You just need to clip the black covering that is around the center conductor...
