Powering the Moog Minitaur with Pedal Power

Post by pfitzsimons » Thu Jan 11, 2018 5:04 pm

I was in the Moog store in Asheville, NC the other day, and the guy working in the showroom thought that while the Minitaur could potentially be powered with the PP2+, it may suffer tonally from the lack of juice.

Voodoo Lab suggested using the AC courtesy but I already have a powered USB hub there. So, at this point, I'm trying to avoid a power strip on my board - DUH!

On a previous post from a couple years back, a forum member suggested this using a PP4x4: "The Minitaur connected to the two High Current 12V outputs using a Current Doubler Adapter together with a Reverse Polarity Barrel Cable."

Anyone done it???

The Minitaur draws about 800mA so the 2+ would not have enough current.

While we never did get any feedback from the user in the post you are refering to, it should be perfectly fine to use the two 12V 400mA outputs from a 4x4, Digital, or Mondo combined with a Current Doubler Adapter (the one with the Green end) to power the Minitaur.

I hope that helps!
