PP2+: Why only 200W for Courtesy Outlet?

Post by juniormarbles » Tue Aug 29, 2017 1:03 am

I am a new PP2+ owner, and want to power my Fender Blues Junior (180W consumption) from the courtesy outlet.

Though I am under the limit of 200W max specified for the courtesy outlet, I am curious what exactly limits the wattage on that outlet to 200, especially as it is wired directly in parallel with the main AC input for the PP2+? Why not 300 or 500 Watts? The outlet looks as solid as the power strip I use for bigger amps, like a Vox AC30.

So: what build aspect of the courtesy outlet limits the wattage? Is it the diameter of the interconnecting wiring? Some other issue? Legal liability?

It's some of all the above ;)

The limit was somewhat made up, somewhat calculated, somewhat determined to cover our rears. :)

It will be perfectly safe powering the amp you describe via the Courtesy Outlet.

Good Luck!
