Voodoo + LINE 6 DL4 POwer...help

Post by pilsagol » Thu Jul 08, 2010 11:42 am

Hi,
I have read that the PP2+ Voodoo can power a Line 6 DL4 in outputs 5 or 6, but I'm just wondering why the discrepancy between voodoo lab saying it can power this pedal with 9VDC 250mA yet Line 6's DL4 requirement is a 9VAC 1200mA minimum

i understand that output 5-6 with DIP switch "ON" will power my modeling Line 6 DL4.... but i dont understand WHY??

The Line 6 DL4 power requirements are
9VAC 1200mA minimum

and the Output 5-6 With DIP switch "on" output is..

14.5V / 12V (unregulated)
50mA / 200mA+

.... i dont get it...

Please explain me: 1. how 200+200 ma of the 5-6 output become 1200 ma?

2. is there an inside mechnism inside the voodoo that supply 1200 ma?

3. does the line 6 knows to work with less than 1200 ma?

4. does the line 6 knows to work with DC power ?

This is a well traveled path...

Basically, the Line6 4-button modeler pedals can accept AC or DC power and they do not draw anywhere near 1200mA. I hope this helps!

From the link above...
Josh Fiden wrote:Line6 uses a 9VAC 1200mA adapter for the modeling pedals (DL4, MM4, etc) because it is the same adapter they use for POD. Actual current depends on the input voltage, but is approximately 180mA. Remember to use outputs 5 or 6, and set the corresponding DIP switch on the bottom of the Pedal Power 2+ away from the NORMAL position.

This is from Line6 in their Four Button/Stompbox FAQs:

Q: How should I power my Line 6 Pedals?
A: We recommend using the Line 6 DC-1, PX-2 AC Power Supply, or the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power units for powering pedals. The Pedal Power 2 Plus can power up to 6 Tonecore pedals and two Modeling pedals at once, and the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power AC can power up to 4 Modeling pedals. Other power supplies may not deliver consistent voltage and are not supported by Line 6.

Hi,

Thanks for your interest in the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power. I'm sorry but we do not have information about which other power supplies are compatible with the Line 6 DL4. If you have a specific question about our Pedal Power, please let us know.
